Ministry of Petroleum on the Fire Involving the Regasification and Storage Vessels at Damietta Port: We Urge Everyone to Obtain Information Only from Official Statements

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources confirmed that, as part of its immediate response to any emergency incidents, a fire broke out on the regasification vessel and the storage vessel located at Damietta Port. The situation was addressed immediately in accordance with the approved emergency response and rapid intervention plans by the competent authorities, as well as the firefighting and security teams at the site.
The Ministry added:
"Immediately upon receiving the report, Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, proceeded to the scene of the incident to monitor the situation firsthand, ensure that containment and safety operations were progressing properly, and verify the implementation of all safety procedures and full coordination among the relevant authorities until the situation is brought under control safely."
The Ministry further confirmed that the incident resulted in no injuries or loss of life, and that emergency teams, in coordination with the competent technical authorities, are continuing the necessary operations and taking all required measures in accordance with the approved standards. It also stated that the necessary procedures are currently underway to assess the consequences of the incident.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources urged media outlets and social media users to obtain information only from the Ministry's official statements, emphasizing that it continues to monitor the situation in real time and will announce any new developments as they arise.
