Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum: Emergency Teams Contain Fire on Regasification and Storage Vessels at Damietta Port

Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced that emergency response teams have successfully contained a fire that broke out aboard a regasification vessel and a storage vessel docked at Damietta Port.
In a statement, the ministry said that, as part of its immediate response to emergency incidents, the situation was dealt with promptly in accordance with the approved emergency and rapid-response plans, through the coordinated efforts of the relevant authorities, firefighting units, and on-site security teams.
The ministry added that, immediately after receiving notification of the incident, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi traveled to the site to monitor the situation firsthand, oversee the firefighting and safety operations, and ensure that all safety procedures were being fully implemented in close coordination with the relevant authorities until the incident was brought under control safely.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources also confirmed that the fire caused no injuries or casualties. Emergency teams, in coordination with the competent technical authorities, are continuing the remaining operational and safety measures in accordance with approved standards. The ministry added that the necessary procedures are currently underway to assess the incident and determine its implications.
