Egyptian Ambassador Bassam Rady Inaugurates New Cultural Season at Academy of Arts in Rome

The Egyptian Ambassador to Italy, Mr. Bassam Rady, together with his wife, inaugurated the new cultural and artistic season of the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome. The event was attended by a distinguished group of Italian parliamentarians, military officials, artists, journalists, as well as an audience of intellectuals and art enthusiasts.

The opening ceremony featured a remarkable exhibition by the creative Egyptian artist Amr Fahmy, who showcased a collection of paintings portraying Egyptian, Italian, and international figures, alongside works inspired by historical and touristic landmarks of Rome during his two-week residency at the Academy. He also presented a special painting dedicated to the great Egyptian artist Ragheb Ayad, founder of the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome, as a tribute to the Academy’s pioneering role.

The event was opened by Dr. Rania Yehia, Director of the Academy, who welcomed the Ambassador and the guests. She expressed her deep gratitude to the Ambassador for his presence and for inaugurating the new cultural and artistic season, and also thanked the participating artists and the Academy’s staff for their continuous efforts in making the Academy a prestigious showcase for Egypt and its culture.

In his speech, Ambassador Bassam Rady praised the Academy’s role in strengthening Egypt’s cultural presence in Italy and Europe, emphasizing that it is a beacon reflecting Egypt’s deep-rooted identity. He highlighted the efforts of the Academy and its director, Dr. Rania Yehia, and officially announced the launch of the new cultural season, wishing it greater distinction and creativity.

After the opening, the guests moved to the Academy’s garden to enjoy a musical performance by Egyptian artists Sayed Bakry and Ashraf Said, who presented selections from authentic Egyptian heritage and folklore. The evening concluded with the serving of Egyptian food and drinks, offering the Italian and European audience a chance to experience another dimension of Egyptian culture and discover its diverse identity.

At the end of the ceremony, the participating artists were honored in recognition of their artistic contributions, amid widespread praise from the attendees for the high level of organization and the outstanding creativity of the works presented by Egyptian artist Amr Fahmy.
