Egyptian Cabinet: Fire Aboard Two Ships at Damietta Port Caused by a Drone; No Party Has Claimed Responsibility for the Incident

The Egyptian Cabinet issued a statement regarding the incident in which two ships at Damietta Port caught fire on July 29, 2026.

The statement confirmed that, after the fire aboard the two ships at Damietta Port had been brought under control, the competent authorities conducted preliminary investigations into the incident.

These investigations revealed that the fire was caused by a drone. No party has claimed responsibility for the incident.

The relevant authorities are continuing their investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and to take the necessary measures to safeguard Egypt's interests and national security.
