Diplomatic Meeting Highlights Shared Cultural Heritage

Dr. Tarek Dahroug, Egypt’s Ambassador to Paris, met with Jack Lang, President of the Arab World Institute and former French Minister of Culture, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen cultural cooperation between Egypt and the institute. The meeting underscored the importance both sides place on cultural exchange as a bridge between Egypt and France.

Strong French Interest in Egyptian Cultural Events

During the talks, Lang expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt and its rich cultural and artistic heritage. He pointed to the strong public turnout for Egypt-themed events hosted by the Arab World Institute, highlighting the exhibition Treasures of Cleopatra, which is currently on display and attracting significant interest from French audiences.

Preparations Underway for Youssef Chahine Centenary

The meeting also addressed preparations for a special cultural celebration marking the centenary of the birth of renowned Egyptian filmmaker Youssef Chahine. Scheduled to take place in January at the Arab World Institute in Paris, the event will feature a series of film screenings and cultural activities dedicated to honoring Chahine’s cinematic legacy and his lasting contributions to world cinema.

Lang noted that the institute is committed to presenting a comprehensive program that reflects the global significance of Chahine’s work and his influence on generations of filmmakers, reinforcing Egypt’s enduring impact on international cultural and artistic life.
