World of Music (14):

In the previous episode, we talked about the role of music therapy in improving language development in autistic children as a treatment pattern that is originally based on the assumption that all individuals have an innate response to music, despite the physical, mental, emotional, or other disabilities that some of them may experience.

From this perspective, we can resort to music to establish a good relationship between the therapist and the child.

Simple melody and simple text best choice for mentally handicapped children

We pointed out that music and musical activities are usually used with autistic children to achieve the required behavioral expressions.

These expressions can help the children achieve adaptation in a better way in their environment. Due to the lack of communication, especially verbal communication, on the part of these children, music may actually develop and improve the level of linguistic development of these children. It increases their vocabulary and the number of linguistic structures they come up with, regardless of their correctness.

This happens through the continuous repetition of melodious, words, simple songs, short chants, and other things that these children can sing during music therapy sessions. This contributes significantly to the development and improvement of communication methods inside the children.

Music is the only art that can be felt by children with special needs, including autistic children. It contains a firm natural factor similar to an electric current, which would affect the nerves, regardless of the level of development and intelligence. This makes mentally handicapped children accept music more than any other activity. Autistic children tend to listen to music are attracted to it.
