The regime of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the ruling Justice and Development Party use the official Turkish news agency, Anadolu Agency, to serve their own interests and implement their own agendas.
The agency celebrated its centenary on April 6. It was founded at the orders of the founder of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
The agency has been working to serve the interests of the Turkish regime, since the eruption of the series of public uprisings in the Arab region that came to be called the "Arab Spring" in 2011.
The agency has then directed to smear Arab governments and states. It had never criticized Erdogan's policies.
Islamist-controlled
Turkish media outlets, including Anadolu Agency, have lost their credibility and objectivity even since the Justice and Development Party imposed its control on them. This is a Muslim Brotherhood control.
In this, Anadolu Agency is following in the footsteps of Qatari media, especially al-Jazeera channel, which is nothing but a propaganda tool for Islamist extremists.
Nevertheless, Mawloud Shehab, a senior official of Islamic Jihad, which is an ideological offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Palestinian territories, praised Anadolu Agency.
He described the agency as a pioneering media outlet that highlights the successes of the Turkish state in all spheres.
Repression
The Turkish regime imposes full control on the Turkish media scene. Journalists opposing the Turkish president are always subject to repression.
According to Reporters Without Borders, Turkey is among countries enjoying the smallest margin of press freedoms.
Those opposing the Turkish president are always arrested and accused of backing terrorism, the organization said.
Erdogan issued a pardon for some prisoners in Turkish jails against the background of the Covid-19 virus outbreak in Turkey a few days ago.
Nevertheless, he excluded the journalists opposing him from that pardon.
